A-Frame Vs Side Sling Nursing Bras. What's the difference?

Posted by Michelle Radley on

Ever wondered what the difference is between A Frame nursing bras and Side Sling nursing bras? Well look no further. We have summarized each of these for you below and outlined the key differences to help work out which suits you best.

Nursing bra’s can have an internal A-frame or side-sling support for feeding. Both the terms refer to how support is provided by the bra to the breast when the cup is dropped down for breastfeeding your baby. There is no right or wrong way, it just comes down to personal preference and what you find most comfortable.

A Frame StyleA-frame Nursing Bra
The A-frame provides a triangle frame around the top of the breast when the cup is dropped down for feeding. Some mothers prefer this as it covers more of the breast for discreet feeding. This option provides more coverage and support are can be more suitable for larger bust sizes. Some popular Hotmilk A-Frame Style nursing bras, include our Show Off Range and our Eclipse nursing bras.

Side Sling Nursing BrasSide Sling Style
Side Sling maternity bras feature a ‘sling’ of fabric on the outer side of the cup that supports the breast during feeding. Side-sling nursing bra’s reveal more of the breast (the top half) and allow greater skin-on-skin contact between mum and bub during breastfeeding. The Side Sling style has slightly less support and can be suited more towards smaller busts. Hotmilk’s Forever Yours Contour bras offer great support with side sling style nursing, as do My Necessity which is an ideal hospital bra.
